1. The main idea of the design of this logo is based on the concept of ‘ying and yang’ which represents the equilibrium between the aspects of spiritual and physical. Besides that, it also covers the active involvement of all pharmacy students in both academic and co-curriculum aspects.
2. Adapted from the philosophy of a personality in the world of pharmacy which is ‘Serpent of Epidaurus on the staff of Aesculapius’, the symbol of snake in this logo gives the meaning of wisdom, immunity and recovery. Snake in vertical position with its head out towards the front symbolizes pharmacy students who always think maturely and look ahead of time in line with the world’s evolution.
3. There are three colours shown in this logo which are purple, red and white. Purple is the official colour of Universiti Sains Malaysia while red symbolizes the characteristic of a good leader, yet to be motivated, professional and dedicated; white colour acts as a sign of sincerity, honesty and also as a symbol of professionalism of pharmacists in public health care.
4. The idea to include a glass in this logo is based on the concept of ‘Bowl of Hygieia’. While the stake which holds the glass is in the form of DNA strand, this represents the incorporation of vision and mission of the university in running this society which is to be in the front line of exploring science and technology besides stressing on the universal harmonies and self development.
