CHILLI'S Car Wash Service

Who does car wash service to raise money for their project? They do, the CHILLI committees. This is definitely a whole new way to gain money. They came out with this brilliant idea for their fund raising and this will not be a huge success without the help of 35 students who volunteered to be the car washers.

So, they started this service early in the morning at 8 am and ended at 4pm. It was a hectic and exhausting day, I tell you. Washing car by car was not an easy job but their hard work really paid off when they managed to collect a total amount of RM 950 from the fund raising. A million thanks to...

Freeze Mob #HoldMyHands13

Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone! :)

For those who do not know about freeze mob, it is actually an urban word which came from flash mob. This is when a group within the public starts creating an attraction to spread a message. So, a group of public decided to freeze for 9 minutes within the public to attract and convey a message, which is in support for unity as Malaysians.

This is all started when the General Election 2013 which marked an important day in history of Malaysia whereby almost 80% of registered voters came back to Malaysia to vote. However, few incidences has occurred when the racial card has been played around and creating the tension.  In respond to it, a group of activists decided to post with cardboard boxes and spread the unity which has held us tied together as Malaysian. Posted by a Lee Hong Chang in a Facebook group, persuaded by Wan Nashrullah, this is how ‘Hold My Hands Freeze mob’ event happened.

“Be the change you wish to see”, this is once quoted by a small man who obtained independence for a country called India. Gandhi’s word is greater than people thought. This principle is what makes this all possible. Within one week, committees has been made, flows has been arranged at ease as God’s permitted. This freeze mob in USM was a trial run which we might want to make a bigger participation from USM students. So, majority of the students who participate come from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, followed by School of Chemistry, School of Physics and Schools of Mathematics.

Briefing was done around USM new library to brief them about the flow of this freeze mob. So, two waves were done around USM library, first was within the International Day Fair in front of DTSP Foyer while second one were done along the DK Foyer. With recyclable materials such as cardboard boxes and a marker pen, the unity which already exists deep down inside can be conveyed and highlighted through a good source of media.

Here's the video on the Freeze Mob. Enjoy :)

NPSC 2013, UKM Bangi

I know this is kinda late and Berita Kampus had already published this, but its not the same without the real experience, shared by those who were actually there ;D So here goes :

On 19th April 2013, 90 students from our Pharmacy School departed to UKM Bangi to pursue their dreams in bringing back the trophy which was taken by UIA last year. That night, the opening ceremony had took place and it was great. Each university (especially USM!) showed extreme competitiveness for the events that will take place :D

20th April 2013, Saturday

On the first day, all of us was taken to the court for a warming up session before starting any of the games.

Later on, the events started (yesss, all of them at the same time! Imagine the supporters yang kena berlari ke sana sini untuk sokong USM's teams!) From netball, to volleyball court, futsal, sepak takraw, basketball... Phewww it was kinda hectic actually, plus with the sun blazing generously on that day. Despite all that, our athletes worked really hard in order to defeat their opponents. But maybe luck was not on our side this year, our teams were defeated in almost all the games, except for Sepak Takraw, Basketball and Volleyball. Its okay, there's always a next time right? :D As for the events held indoors, our Badminton athletes did an awesome job in placing 1st (for Men's Single) and 2nd (for Men's Double)! *applause*

Our Netball team :)
Our Basketball team :)
Our Sepak Takraw team :)
Our Futsal (Men) team :)

Our Futsal (Ladies) team :)
Our Volleyball (Men) team :)

Our Volleyball (Ladies) team :)
Badminton (Single) :)
Badminton (Double) :)

That night held the event that we've been waiting for, the event that will somehow raise your adrenaline levels even if you're not competing : THE TRACK & FIELD EVENTS! Supporters from all universities were shouting like crazy (believe me,it was crazy. You don't even get to see this at shopping sprees) For every single event, the supporters were really loud and energetic, screaming their varsity's names, jumping up and down as their participants ran towards the finishing line!

At the end, since we've gone tired from screaming from the seats, we went down near the track to continue screaming and supporting! I bet somebody did record that moment, its Nurulhani Rosli I think :D The athletes were awesome and all in all, I'd say we really did a great job at the track! We won quite a number of medals (I don't quite recall what the events were, please forgive my low memory capacity -.-)

21st April 2013, Sunday

On Sunday morning, it was time for traditional sports! The events held were : Kelereng, Terompah Gergasi, Lari dalam Guni and the creme de la creme event, Tarik Tali!

The happy faces after winning :D

And do you know what's the most surprising fact that we've came across during this event? Its the fact we, pharmacy students of USM, are actually soooo good when it comes to traditional sports! Well, how can we not be good when we got the top 3 places for almost all events? ;D We even came up with a conclusion that next year, we should really focus on training for traditional sports and obtain 1st place for all events in this category :3

"Kita ni budak budak kampung je, game kampung reti la main!"

After that, it was time for the closing ceremony. Again, we were really loud and energetic, as if we've won lots of medals (padahal orang lain lagi banyak kann). But that spirit, that confidence that never fades, that's what so special about us USM pharmacy students ;)

For this year's NPSC, our team ended up being at 6th place *a round of applause for all the ahtletes!* But its okay, for next year's NPSC (which will be held at IIUM Kuantan), we will definitely be back, more prepared and enthusiastic than ever, and we will fight hard in order to bring back the trophy to USM!
